Ailia Health Finance Application
Ailia Health LLC · Healthcare / Finance
The Challenge
Ailia Health LLC needed a secure finance application to manage sensitive financial data for their healthcare operations. Off-the-shelf accounting and finance tools did not meet their requirements — they needed custom workflows tailored to their specific business processes, role-based access control for different team members, and a subscription-based access model for their users.
The application had to handle sensitive data responsibly, perform reliably under daily use, and be accessible from anywhere without requiring software installation on individual machines.
Our Approach
We built the application as a Java web application using Spring Boot, chosen for its mature security model, robust transaction management, and proven track record in healthcare and finance applications. Key architectural decisions included:
- Spring Security for authentication and role-based authorization, ensuring users only access the data and functions appropriate to their role
- AWS deployment using EC2 and RDS, giving Ailia Health a dedicated, secure infrastructure without the overhead of managing physical servers
- Responsive web interface so the application works on desktops, tablets, and phones without a separate mobile app
- Subscription management built into the application, handling user access tiers and renewal workflows
We worked closely with the Ailia Health team throughout development, delivering working features in iterative cycles so they could provide feedback early and often. This approach ensured the final product matched their actual workflows rather than our assumptions about them.
Technical Details
The technology stack was selected for long-term maintainability and security:
- Backend: Java 17 with Spring Boot 3, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA
- Database: PostgreSQL on Amazon RDS with automated backups
- Hosting: AWS EC2 with Application Load Balancer, HTTPS via ACM
- Monitoring: CloudWatch metrics and alarms for uptime and performance tracking
- CI/CD: Automated build and deployment pipeline for reliable updates
Results
The application has been running in production with 99.9% uptime since launch. Ailia Health’s team uses it daily to manage their financial operations, and the subscription model provides a predictable access control mechanism for their user base.
Key outcomes:
- Eliminated manual workflows that previously relied on spreadsheets and email
- Reduced data entry errors by consolidating processes into a single application
- Enabled remote access — the team can work from any location with a browser
- Simplified onboarding — new users are set up through the subscription system without IT involvement
The application continues to run on AWS, and we provide ongoing support for updates and infrastructure management.
